Kitten Season is Coming – Time to Get Ready

Rumor has it that spring is around the corner, although some of us would question that, having just dug out from the snow fall of the past few weeks! For most of the world spring heralds warmer weather, spring flowers and gentle sunshine, however for those involved in the animal welfare sector it brings “Kitten Season” and all its associated trials and tribulations. The shelters are full, the foster homes are bursting at the seams and the rescue societies are strained to the limit - too many kittens and not enough homes.

This week we are providing you with a few tools that we hope will help you through “Kitten Season” a little more smoothly:-

1) Most people outside of the shelter community are unaware of the prodigious breeding capabilities of a female cat. Click the “Kitten Season” button to download our helpful information sheet. You can photocopy it and hand it out to all would be adopters – Education is the Key – this is information that everyone should know. If you are having an event make sure that copies are handed out at the event. Your local veterinarians may be interested in handing it out too!

2) Education about this important issue should not stop there - spark a child’s interest with our coloring page and it is amazing what an impact they can have on their parents. Click on the “Kid’s Korner” button to download our free coloring page;

3) Paper, printer ink, Post-it notes and examination gloves are just a few of the items offered at discounts of up to 90% of regular retail prices through the PetPoint purchasing agreement with Staples – if you haven’t signed up yet now is the time to do it. Click on the Staples button to get started;

4) We’ve been busy here at PetPoint helping our clients preparing for the coming “Kitten Season”
by continuing to add new features and create new reports, making PetPoint even more efficient than ever before! With over 80 standard reports now built into PetPoint, monitoring and managing your organization’s operations is a matter of clicks!

Here are just a few of the recent report updates we’ve made to PetPoint:

Animal: Daily Management Report: Quickly view a snapshot of the critical measures of your organization’s intakes, outcomes, spay/neuter surgeries, and current inventory broken down by species for any given date, along with week, month, and year-to-date counts, as well as a comparison to last year’s figures.

Cross-tab Reports: Number-crunch your Intake & Outcome stats with PetPoint’s crosstab reports, which allow you to sort and group your counts in a variety of different ways! This report format has proven quite popular, so be sure to watch for cross-tab versions of additional reports later this spring!

Asilomar Reports: Over 60 PetPoint users have now configured PetPoint to generate their Asilomar Accord reports. Setup of the Asilomar Reports takes just minutes, but provides invaluable standard measures of an organization’s inbound and outbound animal flow.

Care "Missing" Reports: Easily monitor which animals in your care that do not yet have certain medical tests, vaccinations, procedures, medications or behavior tests completed! For example, the reports can list all dogs that have not yet had a temperament assessment or cats that have not yet had an FELV test.

Person by Item Extended Report: Create and export lists of people who have donated to your group with this new report, which tracks people who have been charged for specific items on receipts over a given date range and even within a specific dollar amount!

Over 475 organizations now use PetPoint to manage and streamline their operations - why isn't yours? If you haven't checked out PetPoint recently, click here to take a test drive of PetPoint today!
