Reduce your Health Related Returns by Transferring the Risk to Us
In a recent survey by the North American Veterinary Association, preliminary results released show that pets' health and lives are being severely impacted by financial considerations. It was reported that :-
- 97% of veterinarians surveyed have been forced to recommend a less effective medical solution because the client could not afford the most effective solution.
- 90% if those surveyed have euthanized a pet because the owner could not afford treatment.
It is an unfortunate reality that new and existing pet owners in North America remain unaware that pet insurance is available and others remain unwilling to purchase it, despite the significant evidence that pet insurance saves pet's lives. Common reasons given for pet owners failing to insure their pets include “My pet is healthy; I don’t need insurance” or “I cannot afford it.” The fact is that 1 in 3 pets will need emergency veterinary treatment each year and that single event could cover many years of premiums. Pet owners who feel that they cannot afford it are the very people who will need it most – if they cannot afford the premiums they are unlikely to be able to afford the treatment.
Proper messaging of the ShelterCare Insurance program is the simplest way to give new adopters the chance to experience the benefits of pet insurance for themselves.
- Display the ShelterCare posters where new adopters will see them;
- Follow these steps at the time of adoption:
PetPoint users…

c. Insert the PetPoint documents into a ShelterCare envelope;

Did you know – ShelterCare offers all employees and volunteers at animal welfare organizations a discount on policies for their own pets?
You have dedicated your life to looking after and adopting other people’s pets. Certainly, one or two (or seven) have found their way into your home. They are the luckiest of the bunch! Whether it is behavioral issues or health concerns, few pet owners know as much about them as you. There is no question that you would go to great lengths to treat them if they became sick or injured. This is why you should have health insurance coverage for them.
PetPoint users whose animals are microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch receive a 15% discount – simply log-in to your PetPoint account, click on the Purchasing Partners button and enroll your pet via the ShelterCare Insurance link and you will receive your 15% discount – 10% for pets that have not been registered with 24PetWatch.
Non-PetPoint users - simply go to www.sheltercare.com and choose the level of protection that you would like for your pet. During Step 2 of the the enrollment process indicate that you are an employee/volunteer at an animal welfare organization and you will receive your 10% discount.
You look after the animals before adoption – let us take over afterwards – together we can save more pets' lives.
