Recent newspaper articles and TV reports suggest that domestic cats, like humans, could fall victim to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome ('SARS'), the highly infectious disease that a number of Canadians contracted earlier this year. To date, there is no known case of SARS infecting a cat in Canada. Various reports gathered from China reveal an apartment building where many tenants that had been infected with the SARS virus also contained two cats testing positive for the disease. However, in an article appearing in this month's edition of the publication "Nature", it indicates that SARS could be transmittable between animals of different species.
