Happy, Healthy and Here: ID and Database Program Helps Animal Lovers Manage Their Pet’s Wellbeing For a Lifetime

–24PetWatch ™ Empowers Responsible Pet Owners to Take The Best Possible Care of Their Pet –

Toronto, ONTARIO – July 11, 2005. There is no way to measure the degree of love a pet owner feels for their four-legged friend. In fact, eight out of ten pet owners consider their pets to be family members and want to do everything in their power to ensure their pet is happy, healthy and safe. While simple identification tags are not enough to bring Fido home if he gets lost or keep him safe while he is gone, a combined program incorporating microchip identification technology, a comprehensive database and identification tags, is now creating an effective alternative. 24PetWatch programs utilize RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification Technology) and accurate, well-managed databases to help pet owners reliably access, store and respond to every event in a pet’s life. From recovery and identification to managing and delivering potentially lifesaving health records and insurance coverage, the 24PetWatch microchip and pet recovery program was the first program to be officially recognized by the National Companion Animal Coalition (NCAC). The NCAC is comprised of the Canadian Federation Of Humane Societies, The Canadian Kennel Club, the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada. The 24PetWatch program promotes responsible pet ownership and creates peace of mind by allowing pet owners to conveniently manage their pet’s health and security.

“Pet owners need to understand that while pet recovery is a priority, managing a pet’s health is extremely important. RFID technology along with a well-managed, accessible database is the only way to ensure that a pet receives the appropriate care,” comments Mark Warren, President and CEO of Pethealth Inc. “Owners can take the first step in protecting their pet by having a 24PetWatch microchip implanted. By combining a 24PetWatch microchip with our external identification system and the most accurate database available, owners can ensure that they are doing the most to protect their pets health and safety,” adds Warren.

24PetWatch Programs
Once a 24PetWatch microchip has been implanted in a family pet, owners can register for two new services that maintain and control a pet’s medical information. 24PetMedInfo and 24MedAlert help owners be the best pet parent they can be.

  • 24PetMedInfo keeps a central record of a pet’s medical information, including chronic medical conditions, allergies, special food requirements, vaccines and medications. This information can be accessed via the Internet once a microchip number and password have been entered. Pet owners can access their pet’s medical records at a moment’s notice, helping owners better manage their pet’s health. If an emergency occurs this information can be relayed to clinics and shelters if a pet owner has pre-authorized release of the records and registered for 24PetMedAlert.

  • 24PetMedAlert is like a medical alert bracelet for pets. 24PetMedAlert gives pre-approval to disclose a pet’s medical information to veterinarians or shelters should a lost pet turn up at a facility. In a lost pet emergency this service could mean the difference between life and death for a dear friend.
