Press Press Releases 2008
Oakville, ON – October 6, 2008. (TSX: PTZ) Pethealth Inc. (“Pethealth” or the “Company”), the leading provider of integrated financial, media and data publishing services supporting the animal welfare community, announced the Michigan Humane Society has become the one-thousandth animal welfare organisation in North America to license its PetPoint animal management application. More humane societies, SPCAs, animal welfare organisations and rescue groups use PetPoint to run their day-to-day operations than any other software. “This is a significant milestone in several respects,” said Mark Warren, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pethealth. “To reach one thousand licensed organisations in just over three years is quite an accomplishment for our PetPoint team. To have Michigan Humane become that one-thousandth organisation is truly special, not only because of its size and its reach within the state of Michigan, but also because of its commanding presence, reputation and leadership role within the broader animal welfare community in North America.” Pethealth first launched PetPoint in February 2005. It is the first management application created for animal welfare organisations to be based on a SaaS (Software as a Service) model. In 2008 to date, PetPoint has recorded over 1.1-million animal intakes and nearly 400,000 adoptions. Total animals in inventory of PetPoint organisations, as of today’s date, are in excess of 187,000. “We are very pleased that we are joining the PetPoint family,” said Cal Morgan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Michigan Humane Society. “Our team undertook a lengthy and thorough analysis of the various applications available in the market and determined that PetPoint was best suited to meet our needs. We expect the use of PetPoint will create greater efficiencies for our organisation and will allow us to expand our role in the community.” The Pethealth/Michigan Humane Society relationship dates back to 2003 when Michigan Humane Society provided assistance in the creation of the ShelterCare insurance program, which has become a leading pet insurance brand for Pethealth, offered through animal welfare organisations. To date, over 1.9-million adopted dogs and cats have been enrolled in the ShelterCare program. “Our interest in the promotion of animal welfare is not limited to our own organisation and surrounding communities,” said David Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Michigan Humane Society. “Our assistance in creating the ShelterCare program is an example of our desire to assist animal welfare on a national level. The PetPoint application and its unique ability to aggregate data is much needed in animal welfare and our use of the application, we hope, will prompt other organisations to also begin using it.” Other leading animal welfare organisations to move to PetPoint in 2008 to date include the San Francisco SPCA, Kentucky Humane Society, Boulder Humane Society and Houston SPCA.
